The La Mirada Disc Golf Club was started in September of 2004 by Jeff Neill and about 29 other local disc golfers. Each player donated $20 to get things going which included this website and some putters with the LMDGC logo. Later they created other merchandise like T-Shirts and Bag Tags some of which are available at the Pro Shop today.
Over the last two years the club has tried to increase its membership by holding a number of bag tag tournaments and weekly tournaments. They have had several meetings and have made some minor changes to the course, with the most recent changes being the movement of holes #2 and #3 away from pedestrian traffic to keep the park walkers and disc golfers away from one another. This helps speed up the game and at the same time makes it safer for everyone.
Now it’s August 2006 and things have been running a little slow. So in an effort to get things going again Rick Ascheri has taken over the day to day operation of the LMDGC website and is in the process of reorganizing it. The goal is to provide informative and up to date content that can help the disc golfing community and the park as well.
The new LMDG Club is being reorganized to be more of a community oriented club. For this reason we have decided to eliminate the $20.00 club membership fee, and instead ask new members to either donate their money, or donate their time by volunteering to help in an event.
